Kadie & David

October 12, 2011

Wedding Photography: Allison Davis Photography | Wedding DJ: Andy Austin
Wedding Ceremony & Reception: The Maple Manor Hotel | Bridal Portrait Location: The Stoneleigh Hotel
Wedding Dress: Priscilla of Boston | Wedding Veil: Mother’s Vintage Veil
Bakery: Romano’s Bakery | Wedding Invitations: Crane & Co.

The two met working side-by-side at McAllister’s while at school at UNT. Their friendship blossomed into love as David pursued Kadie and they got engaged and they waited until Kadie graduated to get married.

David proposed to Kadie at one of the parks in Turtle Creek in Highland Park. We chose the park as one of the locations for their engagement portrait session. I love incorporating special places for couples into their engagement portraits. Then we finished their engagement portraits in the Dallas Arts District so they could have an urban setting for part of their engagement session.

We photographed Kadie’s bridal portraits at the beautiful Stoneleigh Hotel’s penthouse suite in downtown Dallas. The Stoneleigh has some beautiful modern and traditional backdrops for bridal portraits. When we were photographing Kadie’s bridal portraits, I loved it when she commented how she felt like a Kennedy being photographed. She had such a beautiful and timeless bridal style. She had a custom-made brooch bouquet and wore her mother’s wedding veil with her Priscilla of Boston wedding gown.

Kadie & David had a lovely garden wedding ceremony at the Maple Manor in Downtown Dallas. Kadie & David’s ceremony was very touching because they were both so filled with emotion and joy. David tried his best to hold back his tears, but once they started to fall I’m sure everyone was using the sweet handkerchiefs.

I loved Kadie’s choice of Anthropologie dresses with bouquets by DiFiori – they were perfect for a June garden wedding.

After the ceremony, I photographed Kadie & David in the Maple Manor Courtyard, but since it is a small space, we also walked to the nearby Crescent Hotel for some of their bride and groom portraits. The Crescent has some beautiful architecture for clean and beautiful wedding portraits.

Then they couple had a lovely seated dinner reception at the Maple Manor followed by dancing and celebrating. Kadie had an amazing wedding cake with elegant bling from Romano’s Bakery. The couple created a beautiful candy bar in the reception dancing space for their guests. Each of their tables were decorated with photos of Kadie & David — many of them were their engagement portraits I photographed of them and seeing them all made me smile. Kadie also had hankercheifs for their guests in case they shed tears of joy at their wedding ceremony and it was a sweet touch to share with their wedding guests. My favorite wedding detail were the Bride and Groom forks she found on Etsy that they had for their cake table. I just loved them!

Kadie’s dad kicked off the reception with a welcome, but overcome with emotion, Kadie’s mom had to continue reading the welcome speech he had begun. I love seeing people take the opportunities to share their heart on such a meaningful day in the life of their family. After the formal welcome, dining, cake cutting and toasts, the party jumped into full swing with the help of DJ Andy Austin. He sure knew how to keep a party going! Kadie & her friends were totally there to dance and party the night away. It was a really wonderful wedding reception party at the Maple Manor Hotel.
